Probate & Successions
A probate is the legal process for settling a deceased person’s estate and distributing property to the person’s heirs and beneficiaries, once all debts have been settled. In the state of Louisiana, probate is called succession (this is due to our states rich heritage being based in French code).
During a succession there are many requirements that must be met and many legal documents must be prepared and properly filed. We will guide you through all you need to know and be sure all bases are covered.
Keep in mind, if the deceased did not have a will, there are legal procedures in place in order to insure property is properly distributed to the legal heirs. Contact Doug White to guide you through this process and find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your family.
